Obituary of Louis R. Massaro

Louis R. Massaro, 80, of Eatontown, passed away peacefully on Friday at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Mr. Massaro worked as a Postal Clerk in the Long Branch Post Office and the West End Post Office. He later went to work as a postal supervisor at Fort Monmouth, where he retired in 1984. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after High School and served his country and was honorably discharged in 1948. He was born in Long Branch and lived in Oceanport and Eatontown most of his life. Mr. Massaro was a communicant of St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Mr. Massaro was pre-deceased by his mother and father, Catherine and Salvatore Massaro, Sr.; two brothers, Angelo and Sam; and his sister Connie Mallozzi. Surviving is his wife of 57 years Mae E. Lerner Massaro; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Ted Caffyn, Eatontown; two granddaughters, Tracie Caffyn and her fiance Phillip Alperstein, and Kristen Caffyn; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Margaret Massaro, Florida, Salvatore, Jr. and Marie Massaro, Ocean Twp.; a sister, Marie Mercogliano, Oceanport; a sister-in-law, Margaret Massaro, Eatontown; and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Woolley Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street at Broadway, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, 10:30 AM at St. Michael's RC Church, Long Branch. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.
