Obituary of Esther G. Chrisicos
Esther G. Chrisicos, 95, of West Long Branch, died Friday, December 7, 2018 at home.
She was born May 25, 1923 in Newark, NJ. Her early life was spent in Newark where she graduates high school and lived with her family before marrying and moving to West Long Branch.
Esther was a loving wife, aunt, cousin and friend, she was known for her warm and friendly smile. Esther was knowledgeable in a wide range of subjects; art, culture, politics and religion having traveled the world. Most recently she and her friends traveled to Kenya, Africa on a wildlife safari. There were few world destinations she didn’t see from all of Europe, the Holy Land to the Great Wall of China she covered a lot of miles. If she wasn’t traveling the world with her husband Nick, she would spend time with her friends having breakfast at the Blue Swan diner or lunch at Wegman’s market in Ocean Township.
She was very active member of Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, Ocean NJ for the past 55 years. She loved her Church. She sang in the Church choir, also was a member of The Philoptochos Society, Daughters of Penelope, Chapter 195 and treasurer of the St George Socialites.
Her work career spanned almost 60 years, from working as a teenager in family businesses, running her own lingerie shop in Asbury Park to executive assistant at Central Jersey Bank.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas Chrisicos; her parents, Mary Kamvissis and George Argyris, and her brother and sister-in-law Peter G. and Francine Argyris.
Surviving is her brother Louis Argyris, Sarasota, Florida; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 23rd, 1 to 4 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch. Funeral services, Monday, December 24th, 10 am at St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, 1033 West Park Avenue, Ocean, NJ. Interment will follow at St. George Cemetery, 2342 West Bangs Ave. Neptune.
