Obituary of Marie E. Steets

Marie E. Steets, 77 of Eatontown, formerly of West Long Branch died on January 1^st.

She was raised in Cranford, New Jersey and graduated from Cranford High School

Marie’s family was the focal point of her life.  She loved the holidays and always made them special for her family and her friends.  Her home was filled with decorations and the aroma of the delicious meals she prepared.  And there was always room for one more chair at the table.

Marie was an avid and boisterous New York Mets fan, so much so that if you saw her driving her car you could see she was 4 D METS coming and going.  She was equally a fan of the New Jersey Devils and the New York Jets.  She was also a patriot and gave up watching the NFL due to recent controversies surrounding the flag.

Marie’s hands were never idle.  She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics and reading.  She instilled her passion for books in her children from a very early age.

Marie was pre-deceased by her parents William and Ella Russell, her husband Louis Steets, and her brother Stephen Russell.

Surviving Marie are her children, Judi Cook (Alan) Long Branch, Sharon O’Hagan (Bob) Eatontown, Jacki Steets, Farmingdale, and Kevin Steets, Bayville; her brother William Russell and his wife Marilyn; two grandchildren Alex and Jack Cook; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Steven and Loretta Steets, Robert and Roseann Steets and Cathy Salerno.

Visitation Sunday January 6^th 2:00 – 5:00 pm at the Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home, 10 Morrell Street, Long Branch.  Funeral service Monday, January 7^th 11:00 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, cancer.org or Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org.  For messages of condolence, please visit Marie’s page of tributes at www.woolleyboglioli.com.
