Mildred Polansky

Obituary of Mildred Laub Polansky

Mildred Laub Polansky, 94, of Red Bank, passed away on Sunday, February 10. She was born to the late Nate and Bessie Hoffman Edelman in New York in 1924.

Mildred was destined to be an amazing woman from a young age. She and her friends joined the Progress Girls, a group that taught young women that they could do and be anything that they put their minds to. They all became successful career women and Mildred held those close friendships for the rest of her life. Mildred loved adventure and travel.  She went on to join the U.S. Navy, where she honorably served our country during World War II.  In the 50’s, she met Harold Laub, her husband and father of their child.  Harold was a holocaust survivor who traveled to New York to start his life anew. He opened Harold Import Company, and when he passed away, Mildred took over the role of sole business owner.  Her incredible sense of business allowed the company to continue to thrive and today, HIC employs over 100 people.

Those that knew her often described her as a trail blazer, an incredible role model, an amazing businesswoman, and a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and aunt.

She is predeceased by her first husband: Harold Laub; her second husband: Wallace Polansky; and her four siblings: Edward, and Joseph Edelman, Anne Ruck, and Marcia Mulligan.
Mildred is survived by her son: Robert and his wife Nicole Laub of Fair Haven; and her three grandchildren: Matthew, Jonathan, and Lauren.
