I met Wendy in Chicago when she hired me as a copywriter.
Of course it took me years to discover that having a strong, honest, generous woman for a boss in the advertising business was not something I should have taken for granted.
She looked out for me at the agency and became my friend as time went on. She encouraged me to write things that were not ads.
She often had enough energy and enthusiasm for the both of us, and for any group we were in as well.
Wendy taught me how to be a better writer and an better person. She also taught me important life lessons such as, "All tall people should invest in nose hair clippers."
I count myself very lucky to have been a part of her life. My sympathy to her friends and family.

Wendy was a wonderful role model for sharing your own gifts to help other people. I remember once when I was nervous about having to speak in front of a lot of people. She really FELT my anxiety, I could tell, and asked me subtle questions about what I was feeling. Then she offered excellent suggestions that helped me to "image" good outcomes and also suggestions about breathing. They helped me so much. She was such a treasure, unsought, but generously offered to me, and to all of us, as a blessing and a wholesome cure. She will live forever in my heart.

What a sad time for all of us that had the great, good fortune to know Wendy. Her struggles over the last several years were heroic and clearly showed her strength and moral character. She was a brilliantly gifted writer, but an even better friend to all of us.
Ian was the love of her life and she was his. I am so happy that they met at a young age and spent so many loving years with each other. I only wish it could have been many more.

I am so very shocked and sad to hear this news, having not even known Wendy was ill. She was such a blaze of powerful brains, beauty, fiery energy, talent, tremendous wit and drive. We were friends during our advertising lives and partnered together on a couple of projects as well as encouraged each other's creative writing.
Wendy always made me laugh, made me think. She never failed to inspire me. I knew her take on things would always be original and uniquely hers. Having a disease of the brain seems so ironic, unfair, and heartbreaking.
Wendy was a very bright light. My deepest condolences to you, Ian, and all the circles of people whose lives she touched so deeply.

Dear Ian,
I am so sorry to hear about Wendy's passing and struggle with Alzheimer's. I adored Wendy as a boss and friend. She was such a talented woman and it was evident to all who worked with her. I remember one business trip when she shared she knew you were the one from the first day she met you. You both were so blessed to have had each other. I will always remember that lone signature curl that hung down from her forehead. :) Thank you for taking such good care of her. Sending you love and prayers. Diana Barich

I cannot even imagine the sadness you are experiencing. But please know my heart goes out to you. You and Wendy had a beautiful life together which will always be a part of you.
I admired Wendy very much because she was a "true individual". I am glad I got to spend time with you and Wendy when I visited Long Branch. Her speech at your mom's funeral was unusual and beautiful.

Wendy was the brightest star.
She was passionate about everything.
A brilliant writer and advertising partner,
she always pushed the envelope to hone her craft,
to be even better, to know more.
She was forever curious. And a perfectionist.
Ian, I know you were the love of her life.
She said it often.
And I know how protective and loving you were towards her.
You were so lucky to have found each other.
I am so saddened by this news.
