Obituary of Martha Newman Steele

Martha Newman Steele, died on Friday March 29th at her home in Tinton Falls.

Mrs. Newman was a lifelong resident of the Shore area. She was a long time member of Congregation Brothers of Israel, Long Branch, where she also was a member of the Sisterhood and the Hadassah. In later years after moving to Seabrook Village she became active in the social life and developed many new friendships.

She worked for the Oakhurst Pharmacy as a Pharmacist Technician until retiring. She enjoyed family get togethers, traveling throughout the word and her summers on the beach at Takanassee Beach Club, in Long Branch.

Martha was pre-deceased by her first husband, Hy Newman in 1973 and her second husband, Gilbert Steele in 2002.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dr. Mark Newman and his wife Nancy, Dr. Gary Newman and his wife Dr. Sandy Schnall and Fran Sesti and her husband David; four grandchildren, Harris Newman and Betsy Judelson Newman, Ryan Newman, Jennifer Newman and Jake Sesti; three great grandchildren, Abe , Luke and Charlotte Newman.

Graveside services two o’clock in the afternoon, Tuesday, April 2nd at Brothers of Israel Cemetery, North Linden Avenue, West Long Branch. Donations may be made to the Brothers of Israel Synagogue, 250 Park Avenue, Long Branch or Seabrook Village Jewish Community, 3000 Essex Drive, Tinton Falls, NJ 07755.
