Obituary of Florence Joan Wasek

Florence J. Wasek, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 26, 2019. 

She was born to Peter and Julia Miazgowicz on December 15, 1926.  She grew up in Garfield along with her 6 siblings.  In 1946 she married Theodore W. Wasek and they moved to 106 Beech Street in Rutherford NJ, where they began their family.  In 1955 they moved to 40 Ackerson Ave. Pequannock NJ.  Here they raised their two children Gary and Diane. As her children grew older, she took part- time jobs, first in Dell Publishing and then Yardley of London.  She then took a full-time job with GAF in Wayne where she was an Expeditor.  She truly loved her job and all the people she communicated with.  She retired in 1990.  After 40 years in Pequannock, Florence moved to Toms River NJ in 1995.  There she spent the next 21 years enjoying life in Toms River.    In October 2016 she moved into Bayside Manor in Keansburg, NJ. 

Florence enjoyed many activities throughout her life.  She always kept herself busy with T’ai Chi, walking, gardening, shopping, and Broadway Shows.  She was an avid reader, enjoying all types of genres.  She enjoyed the outdoors, visiting Cape May and Longwood Gardens.  She enjoyed her family and was always thrilled to see her grandchildren.  She was a joyful person and was loved by so many. 

Florence was pre-deceased by her husband Ted, in December of 1993.  Surviving are her two children, Gary Wasek and his wife Susan of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and her daughter, Diane Cimala and her husband John of Oceanport NJ.  She also leaves to cherish her memory two Grandsons, Christopher Cimala and his wife Rita, Bryan Cimala and his wife Samantha and her granddaughter Emily Wasek.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 325 Little Silver Point Road, Little Silver, NJ 07739 on Saturday April 27 at 10:30 am.
