Obituary of James T. Apostolacus

James T. Apostolacus, 92, Sarasota, passed away peacefully at Doctor's Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

Born in Long Branch, Jim moved to West Long Branch in 1954 living there for over 50 years before moving to Sarasota, Florida.  Jim graduated from Long Branch High School, where he played football. He attended the University of Maryland and Monmouth Junior College.  He served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Jim served as a past President of the West Long Branch Zoning Board and was a Trustee of the West Long Branch Boro Men's Club.

Jim retired, after 25 years, as a Contract Specialist for Electronic Associates Incorporated, West Long Branch.  After retiring, Jim worked at Monmouth Park Racetrack for over 15 years operating the Valet Key booth.  He loved working summers there and spending time with his “Valet Kids” many of whom kept in touch with him until his passing.

Jim was a master at remembering dates and purchased every new gadget that was developed.  He loved taking pictures at all gatherings and printing them out for everyone to keep. Jim was a sports fanatic, especially watching the Giants, Yankees and Florida State University.

Jim was a proud and adoring Pop Pop to Alyssa, Carly and Jenna.  He would brag about them to anyone who would listen. His "girls" were his whole life!

Jim was predeceased by his wife Virginia (Anastasia), the love of his life; his son Jimmy; his sister Teddy Apostolacus and his brother-in-law Joseph Anastasia.

Surviving is his daughter Susan Trocchia and her husband Chip; his grandchildren Alyssa, Carly and Jenna; his sister-in-law Joan Anastasia; his cousin Dorothy George and her family; and many cousins from the Apostolacus, Vloyanetes and Foltis families; his godchildren Frank Monteforte and Ally Pisa and his best friend since childhood Frank Monteforte and his wife Carol.  A special thank you is extended to his goddaughter Anne Pisa for her unconditional love and support over the years.
