Obituary of Jennie L. Keen

Jennie L. Keen, of Long Branch died on Monday, June 8.

She was born in Keansburg in 1936 to the late Jennie and Frank Yahara.

Jennie’s passion in life was to give. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years, as well as working and volunteering at the Arc of Monmouth County for many years. Jennie also volunteered at the Monmouth County SPCA. She was the president of the Ladies Auxiliary in the VFW, where she met her husband.

When she was not volunteering, she enjoyed spending time at the casinos. She also made a lot of friends when she would go to the local garage sales. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.

She is predeceased by her husband James, and her sons Peter and Edward.

Surviving are her children Robert Fenton, David and his wife Virginia Griffith, Thomas and his wife Christine Parnell, Deborah and her husband William Brown, and Teresa and her husband Jason Wells; her brother Charles and his wife Theresa Yahara; 11 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

Services are private. Jennie will be laid to rest with her husband privately at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery.
