I have so many memories of Chris. But they all feel the same- he was someone I wanted to be with. He was gentle and funny and protective and strong and genuine. He was a good boy and just the coolest brother.
In the spring, mom would get us all dressed up in our Easter finest. We would open big cellophane covered baskets and start trading candy. Then we would all (and I mean all 12 or 14 of us) go to Easter Brunch at the Sheraton. I have no idea how mom and dad and nanny kept track of us in the beautiful ballroom.
Our summers will filled with trips to Manasquan to see Aunt Jill. We always felt so cool there; swimming all day and laying on the beach and playing in the park behind her house. When we weren’t there, we were at the swim club, lazily enjoying summer. He loved fishing and the beach. He got a tan faster than anyone I know, even with SPF on. But it suited his shiny black hair and warm brown eyes.
By fall, we knew it was time to go back to football and cheerleading. I was so proud of Chris, even if I thought his football gear stunk like teenage boy. I knew he was talented and valuable on the field. He loved playing football and he excelled there. We would grab candy at the snack bar after practice and swat away bugs. When it got cold, we would drink hot chocolate from the concession stand. Then fall would lead to Halloween. Mom handmade all of our costumes. When he was a baby, before he had a say in the matter, mom made him into Prince Charming and we were the fairy godmothers. One of his first sentences was “Now I know they they call them tights-cuz they too tight.” He may have hated the tights but those photos are some of my favorite.
Winters were for one thing- Christmas. Nanny would give us all warm baths, Ovaltine and Cream of Wheat on Christmas Eve. Then the four of us would plot how to catch Santa. And I’m pretty sure any plan that involved risk, we volunteered Chris for. He always obliged; he was a very good brother.
I want everyone to know how happy he was. How gentle and easy going. He had a pure heart. I hope you all knew the same Chris I knew. Because it was a privilege to grow up beside him. I wish God would have allowed us more time to make memories; but Chris was on loan from Heaven. He’s not mine to claim. But I hope my words can serve his memory with dignity.
Chris, I love you brother. I always was, and still am, your champion. Rest now. We will not forget you. And we will let your baby girl know what a beautiful man you are.

Nothing could be more true than all these memories.. all those beach days Nan would make you hide behind the towel and powder us head to toe.. lol. It was embarrassing but everyone had to do it to get the sand off!! Chris was always the first to have your back and he loved all of us.. so many times I can hear him.. "Sis.. come on.. it's me, Chris, your brother" and suddenly you just had to hug him as he smiled ear to ear with his arms out.. your words were so beautiful.. that's our Chris.

My Chris, my “ugly bad cop” with the sexiest voice, God holds you under his eternal power, you have peace now, you are happy now, you will live in my heart and will stay in my thoughts until our next date...I know you will be my guardian angel forever. I miss you and you will always be remembered as the great, sweet, amazing. caring, funny, handsome, strong man you were. Te extrañamos mucho pero estamos tranquilos de saber que estás en el paraíso compartiendo felicidad eterna con tus seres queridos. Hasta siempre Chris
